Tavel on Snooth

  • Diego, we have also been enjoying Rose this summer, more so than usual thanks ... we enjoyed some excellent Tavel. From a short bit of research, oak aging rose is not normal but also not unheard of, but a rose of Malbec is something I haven't had the pleasure of trying - yet.Tonight we cooked up a large pot of chili that simmered on the stove ... • Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple days so I thought it was time to ... ... Domaine de la Mordoree (Tavel) and a '10 Parisy (Emmanuel Reynaud).  The first three showed really nice notes of bright cherry and subtle strawberry with mouth watering acidity.  The Parisy was a bit past its prime and had lost most of its brightness. We're just... • Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine Tavel Rosé 2012

    Snoothrank:

This respected rosé reminds one of a phenolphthalein solution (added to a base): darker than salmon but with deeper notes than mere pink. Attractive in the glass and full of strawberry, rhubarb and (perhaps) red huckleberry on the nose. Some tannin on the finish, but a rush of red fruits on the palate such as unripe strawberry. A palate cleansi... Read More

  • Tavel Domaine Maby la Forcadiere Rhone 2012

    Snoothrank:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12 from a shop in Wiltshire [www.yapp.co.uk ] Tavel is an AOC created in 1936 [although wine production in the area goes back many centuries ] for rose wines from the commune of that name on the west bank of the Rhone river just north of Avignon and opposite Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It is the only AOC in France for ... Read More

  • I'm always good for some Julian Chivite rose from Navarra, or a d'Acqueria Tavel.  Even those inexpensive Ferme Juliens (Vielle Ferme with a proprietary label) from TJs work for me.  When it comes to rose, I just want it chilled, clean, not sweet, and preferably made with grenache, cinsault, or a mix, although Baker Lane and Horse and Plow made ...
