Rasteau on Snooth

November 2009

Familia Zuccardi in Argentina does a fortified Malbec called Malamado. And ... such as Rivesaltes and Rastea

Very dense, rich, CDuPape style Rhone wine. Black fruit, mushrooms, rosemary, and good acidity with strong tannins. Should age well. Very good wine for the money.

Rasteau Domaine Gourt de Mautens 2005

Starting at $59.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Marks & Spencer own brand, and really surprisingly good for the price. Starts out seeming to lack acid, but opens up nicely to savoury flavours and a lot of berry fruit, balanced nicely by a typically Rhône-ish steeliness.

I tasted this summer a 2008 chardonnay from my area which spent 6 months in ... Côte-Rotie, Cornas, Sablet, Rasteau... At Vinexpo 2009 in Bordeaux, I stopped at the Côtes du Rhône booth and had a degustation of ALL the...

Fruits of the forest, cinnamon, spice and vanilla on the nose. Followed by a full bodied palate with black fruits and spice. Excellent finish with structure and enticing tannin.
