Côtes du Rhône Villages on Snooth

This is a nice, complex wine. It has soft tannins. It does not have a long finish. Enjoyable and understated.

Chateau du Trignon Cotes du Rhone Villages Sablet 2005

Starting at $20.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

a classic cotes du rhone, deep red fruits, meaty, smoky, spicy, a *tad* alcoholic (14.5%? prolly closer to 15%, though i don't know for sure...) it has an almost fiery depth to it, and a terrific finish that is full of...

Very dense, rich, CDuPape style Rhone wine. Black fruit, mushrooms, rosemary, and good acidity with strong tannins. Should age well. Very good wine for the money.

Rasteau Domaine Gourt de Mautens 2005

Starting at $59.99 Snoothrank: 3.5/5

Great wine. Explosively fruity with rich berries and a spicy kick. Impossible not to love, and it's sustainably produced.

Domaine la Montagnette Cotes du Rhone Villages 2007

Starting at $12.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

this is a 100% grenache blend, light and intensely fruity with a surprising amount of acidity. not a very typical cotes du rhone, but tasty.

Marks & Spencer own brand, and really surprisingly good for the price. Starts out seeming to lack acid, but opens up nicely to savoury flavours and a lot of berry fruit, balanced nicely by a typically Rhône-ish steeliness.
