Cotes de Provence

Cotes de Provence is a large, somewhat generic appellation in Provence that is best known for its rosés. However, some excellent reds are also made, mostly from Syrah and Mourvedre, but also Grenache, Cinsaut, Cabernet Sauvignon, and others. The few whites tend toward the soft and aromatic, dominated as they are by Semillon, Clairette, and Ugni Blanc.

  • Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple days so I thought it was time to catch up. Woke up Saturday morning and found ourselves in Marseilles where we're starting our next great wine adventure. First day was spent trying to get rid of the jet lag cobwebs so we took it easy, checked out Aix-en-Provence and then headed to the villa in St. Remy. D... This Provencal Rose from a very well-known producer is an elegant example of wine for which this ancient Roman province was renown for centuries.
