Touraine-Mesland is an appellation for red,white and rose wines from six communes around the village of that name.This is located about halfway between the towns of Amboise and Blois on the north bank of the Loire river more or less opposite Chateau Chaumont on the south side. It is really a sub-appellaion within the much larger Touraine appellation.In the early 19th century this was the first part of the Loire valley to plant the Gamay grape– Description from duncan 906
