Cheverny is an appellation created in 1993 [ although viticulture here goes back centuries ]  for red,rose,white and sparkling wines  [although most are white ] from 24 communes in the Loir-et-Cher department. ie the area south of the town of Blois between the rivers Loire and Cher. The smaller Cour-Cheverny appellation also created in 1993 is for white wines only made of the rare local romoratin grape from 11 of theese communes.The reds and roses of Cheverny are made of a blend of pinot noir and gamay although cabernet franc and malbec may also be added. The whites are made of a blend of sauvignon blanc or sauvignon gris and chardonnay although chenin blanc and romoratin may also be added
