Pouilly-fumé Wine

Pouilly-Fume is an appellation in the so-called Central Vineyards of the Loire Valley -- the eastern Loire. The grape variety used is Sauvignon Blanc. Here, as in Sancerre, just across the river, one finds Kimmeridgian limestone soil, but there is flint, too, which gives these Sauvignons their characteristic gunflint aroma.

  • @ vinovino:  Okay, I release my thoughts on my recent post of the Pouilly Fume as put in my review .A beautiful bouquet of melon and hint of flint and grass. Also Orange peel on the nose, on the palate, lemon, citrus, white peach with hints of chalk and salinity. A tiny touch of sweetness around 1.8 residual sugar with great acidity. It lingers ...
