The general Anjou appellation is for red,white,rose and sparkling wines from 151 communes around the town of Angers in the central L;oire valley. This large appellation contains a number of sub-appellations,one of which is Anjou Villages, created in1991 for red wines only made of the cabernet sauvignon and/or cabernet franc grapes from 46 of those communes
