Anjou Wine
Anjou is a large region in the central Loire Valley around the city of Angers. Virtually every grape available in the Loire is grown here, and much inexpensive rose is made, but its best appellations are Savennieres, which produces powerful, mineral-driven, ageworthy dry white wines made from Chenin Blanc, and Coteaux du Layon, which produces sweet wines from the same variety that can improve in bottle for many decades.
