Vin de Pays d’Oc

Vin de Pays d’Oc is a generic regional classification in the Languedoc. Vin de Pays is below AC, but above Vin de Table. Producers who label their wine this way cannot use an appellation, but may indicate region, vintage, and grape variety. Especially in the large, diverse, increasingly adventurous Languedoc, a Vin de Pays designation does not mean the wine is inferior. Often, it simply is not made according to the rules of the appellation or uses forbidden grape varieties.

Yuk. Label promises intense tropical fruit with notes of Rose & Jasmine. Nope, not to me. What I taste is very pungent. Dry, slight bubbles, almost amber color. That's about it, cracker please. Read More

  • B&g Chardonnay Pays d'Oc France 2012

Rather neutral on the nose with faint aromas of green apple, toasty sweet wood and a hint of butterscotch. A touch sweet on entry and the butterscotch note makes that even more apparent as this turns a bit candied in the mouth with more of a carmel tone to the flavors than overt fruitiness. Some nuanced orchard fruit flavors that emerge on the p... Read More

  • Pure Viognier 2011

A fresh and bright style of viognier. Quite aromatic with notes of apple along with white flower, white peach, and sweetgrass. More of the same on the palate with lots of mouthwatering acid. Lots of body and viognier mouth coating richness. My sweetie really enjoyed this one. I tried pairing it with a goat cheese and pineapple-guava/feijoa salad... Read More

  • Just opened a bottle of "Les Ormes De Cambras." I find it an outstanding wine. Not a very expensive variety but none the less crisp and very pleasant, especially on a hot and balmy evening.

  • You don't even have the grape I like listed; grenache. Also, I am looking for the old Persian families that pulled their Shiraz vines up from Fars and moved them to France. Thank you, etg
