Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Wine

The Vin de Pays des Cotes Catalanes designation covers red, white and rosé wines made in the Pyrenees-Orientales department of France, otherwise known as the Roussillon. The category covers wines which do not fit the rules of the AOC Cotes du Roussillon, usually becuase they use different grape varieites or do not conform to the allowable percentages of grape varieites in the blend. This does not mean the wines are of lower quality, it just means they have more freedom of style. – Description from hesfordj
