Coteaux de Languedoc is an appellation in the Languedoc. It is extremely large and difficult to generalize about. The red wines are required to have a minimum of 50% Grenache, so, at the very least, many are robust, juicy, and make lovely, unpretentious table wines. Fresh whites made from a whole crowd of typical Languedoc varieties, like Bourboulenc, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc, and fruity, Grenache-dominated roses also make this appellation a source of good value.

I must admit, my first surprise with this wine was the color, given the light color on the cork, I was expecting this to be a lighter style wine, but the color in the glass was a deep purple, transitioning to a bright ruby along the edges. The nose was a wonderful blend of leather, black currant, ripe berries, rose petals and moss. The taste w... Read More

Very lemony on the nose with soft suggestions of flowers and grass. This is bright and zesty in the mouth, simple but pure with lemon notes and a faint edge of sweet apricot fruit. A touch round, the modest finish shows a slightly dusty edge. It doesnt do much but what it does, it does well. 84pts Read More

This wine offers excellent value for the price. It is made from a blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and 10% Mourvedre. I really like these predominantly Syrah wines from the Languedoc. This wine shows leather, earth, blackberry, and mineral flavors. It is full-bodied and has elegance. Read More

Finally, I get to find out how the other half lives.... The smell is AMAZING. Unlike any wine I've ever experienced (as I do not drink $100+ bottles from France). All I can say is, what incredible juice! Tastes bone dry and mineraly, but smells overflowingly wet and juicy and floral. The mind registers both and says "YUM!" I'd give it 93-95 ... Read More

Sitting - as I might imagine it - on the Mediterranean with a refreshing glass of local white, this thirst-quenching, somewhat neutral and strangely salty wine would be the very ticket. The scent is like freshly picked Thompson Seedless grapes with a hint of coarsely ground salt. The flavor is muted, but has fruit enough to refresh - with a li... Read More
