Coteaux de Languedoc is an appellation in the Languedoc. It is extremely large and difficult to generalize about. The red wines are required to have a minimum of 50% Grenache, so, at the very least, many are robust, juicy, and make lovely, unpretentious table wines. Fresh whites made from a whole crowd of typical Languedoc varieties, like Bourboulenc, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc, and fruity, Grenache-dominated roses also make this appellation a source of good value.

  • Domaine Pech Redon Coteaux du Languedoc les Cades 2006

This is one of the best wines I have ever enjoyed - from the moment I opened the bottle and took the first sip, I was hooked. It is full and rich, yet smooth and velvety. I picked it up based on the merchant's review, believing that it would be a nice pairing for steak night. I decided to open it with our lamb stew and I am so glad. It definitel... Read More

  • Domaine de l'Hortus Red Blend Coteaux du Languedoc Grande Cuvée 2006

The colour on this wine is a very dense, dark purple. It's tight on the nose with aromas of dark fruit and a clear earthiness, hints of oak and chocolate. The palate is also tight, with much structure. Tannins are quite grippy. Fruits and oak comes through on the finish, which is quite long. There is potential here, I'd say this needs a year in ... • Caves de Pomerol Coteaux du Languedoc Picpoul-de-Pinet NV

This smells of stone and mineral softly embedded in white peach fruit tones. Rather taut on the palate with a nervous, mineral edge that keeps this refreshing though there is no shortage of vibrant peach and lemon toned fruit. A great wine for that summer shellfish platter! 89pts Read More
