Cabardès Wine

The Cabardes is a small appellation north of Carcassonne in France. It is one of the only appellations to blend varietals from the Atlantic (Merlot and Cabernet) with those from the Mediterranean (Grenache and Syrah). Established in 1998, it is one of France's newest AOC's. Around twenty estates exist within the AOC, making the bottlings rare values.

  • Chateau Rayssac Cabardes Cote Quest 2010

I typically love wines that have more than just fruit to them, but this French red blend's barnyard aroma completely overpowered whatever berry and red fruit flavors might have lurked underneath. Read More

  • Chateau de Brau Cabardes 2011

20% Cabernet, 30% Merlot, 25% Syrah, 25% Grenache Earthy and spicy and immediately attractive on the nose with its complex blend of tobacco, carob, tomato leaf, stone and peppery red fruit aromas. Smooth and polished on entry, this is very well balanced if a little too supple for me, but still it's a delightful wine in the mouth. The flavors ar... Read More

  • Domaine O'Vineyards Cabardès Proprietor's Reserve 2006

In the glass you get a purpley-red velvet followed by a nose full of toasted coffee beans, tobacco and chocolate. More fruit seem to come through on the palate, with black plums dominating and a few chocolate dipped cherries. Towards the end of the palate you get a smoky, black pepperedness intertwined with the fruits - delish! Food matches woul... Read More

  • Domaine O'Vineyards Cabardès Proprietor's Reserve 2006

Spicy, beautiful. I love you. I'm drunk. Too many wines before this one, but you got me. I loved the Syrah, and this one is taking it up a notch! You just have no mercy, O'Vineyards! You're tearing out my heart! Gotta admit that I didn't like Mojo AT ALL, but you have sold me with the Syrah and Reserve. Keep up the bold flavor!93/100 Read More

  • O Vineyards O Syrah Syrah Languedoc Roussillon Cabardes 2005

Spicy, oaky nose. Loving the bold character in this wine. Some of the finest legs I've seen in a while - perhaps a little Marilyn Monroe action going on in my glass? Thank you for following through on the finish; it was a nice, long experience with a bit of a dry mark to cap it off. I'm digging this wine.92/100 Read More
