Pouilly-Fuisse is the best-known white wine appellation in the Maconnais, which is in southern Burgundy. Because of the region’s more southerly climate, the wines are often quite ripe. They can be oaked or unoaked, and some are suitable for long aging, while others are easygoing wines meant to be consumed in their youth.

Pouilly-fuissé on Snooth

  • Château de Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes 2012

    Snoothrank:

Planted in 1929, the current vintage of this wine was aged entirely in new oak and the wine can certainly handle it. Its generosity on the palate is reined in by a bit of nut pith tannins. It shows all the vibrant acidic restraint of 2012 without any requirement of caveats. 92 pts Read More

  • Château de Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé les Brulées 2012

    Snoothrank:

This powerhouse of a Pouilly-Fuissé was aged entirely in new oak. Its a bit flamboyant, packed with boisterous fruit and unrelenting on the finish. To counter its dynamic palate, it shows a touch of tannin on the finish. 92 pts Read More

  • J. A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuisse les Menetrieres 2012

    Snoothrank:

This mid-slope vineyard faces directly east. It tastes of dried white peaches and millefeuille pastry. Its delicate in flavor but just round enough on the palate to show some love handles. 93 pts Read More

  • Domaine Guffens-Heynen Pouilly-Fuissé Tris des Hauts des Vignes 2013

    Snoothrank:

This can be an economical wine in both cash and calories: you can spend hours smelling it without ever bothering to taste it. It is exotically spicy with a full rack of baking spices fortified by crispy piecrust notes. Hardly short on fruit, it is packed with ripe apples, pears and nectarines. 93 pts Read More

  • Domaine Guffens-Heynen Pouilly-Fuissé Extremis 2012

    Snoothrank:

Jammed with floral and spice notes, this wine isn't short of personality! It's mouth-filling and hard to resist to the last drop. For New World wine drinkers looking to "convert" to the "source" of Burgundy, this is a great way to go. 93 pts Read More

  • Pouilly Fuissé les Perrières 2011

    Snoothrank:

Startling in its freshness and vibrant acidity, the accompanying roundness on the palate gives this wine completeness. Its flavors are delicate but hardly weak. This is archetypal Mâconnais Chardonnay. 94 pts Read More

  • J. A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuisse Sous Vergisson 2010

    Snoothrank:

This wonderful Pouilly-Fuissé by J. A. Ferret (now owned by Jadot) has a nose of pear and apple - a bit like a Chablis with deeper flower-like notes; on the palate, there is a fair bit of mineral (clean forged steel) plus sweet licorice and green apple. Nice, elegant, long, nutty finish. There is also abundant acid for further aging. An excell... Read More
