Pouilly-fuissé Wine

Incredible lime coloring, very dry and crisp without any overoaky yuck. There's citrus on the finish without any puckery sting. Wonderful stuff. Had at Blackbird in Chicago.

If you want a nice Puligny-Montrachet but worry about the tightening credit markets, try the Daniel Barraud Pouilly-Fuisse. The wine equivalent of steak on a hamburger budget.

Remarkably plump Chardonnay from an area (and winemaker) I associate more with lighter, crisper wines. Maybe it's the age (tasted in October 2009), but this wine came across as very soft, ripe, and open in this tasting....

Bright aromas with a fungal funkiness and some baked pears mashed in. Medium thick mouthfeel, with medium acidity, light fruit and more than a touch of oak. The finish kind of drops off, lingering mostly with the oak flavors.

Tight nose of apple and pears. Zesty and round in the mouth gentle melon notes, Finish is light and doughy.
