for this region?

Pouilly-Fuisse is the best-known white wine appellation in the Maconnais, which is in southern Burgundy. Because of the region’s more southerly climate, the wines are often quite ripe. They can be oaked or unoaked, and some are suitable for long aging, while others are easygoing wines meant to be consumed in their youth.

Green apples and pineapple on the nose. Good acidity. Oak stands tall on the finish. Not especially impressed considering the price point. Read More

  • Domaine Sangouard Guyot Pouilly Fuisse Terroirs 2012

    Snoothrank:

Really nice chard from Pouilly-Fuisse. On the nose there's citrus and lemon oil. The palate is young and fresh with lemon/lemon cream, some slight salinity, a touch of ripe green apple, medium acidity and a medium length finish. Read More

  • Domaine Ja Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé Tournant de Pouilly 2012

    Snoothrank:

This is a wine that benefits from some time. Its neither easy nor is it tough, yet it is entirely obvious. This is partially due to the fact it is on a sheer limestone soil. Whatever the viticultural aspects, the wine is vinous yet robust and hence perplexingly compelling. 92 pts Read More

  • J. A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuisse les Menetrieres 2012

    Snoothrank:

This mid-slope vineyard faces directly east. It has a rather rich, yet well-drained, soil, that endows the wine with a nice split between structure and ripeness. Theres wild peach and plenty of apricot in this wine to make it rather gulpable. 92 pts Read More

  • Domaine Ja Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé le Clos 2012

Velvety, dense and concentrated, this bottling made from the plot behind the domaine is where the heart lies here. It showcases elegance and power with the ultimate signature of finesse. 92 pts. Read More

  • Domaine Ja Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Prouges 2012

    Snoothrank:

This is a white that demands some time. Its impressively concentrated, so its still far from being exuberant in unleashing its full-fledged flavor. Not only is the spice-laced white fruit pristine-clean, it also finishes very long. 92 pts Read More
