  • Aromatics very nice, however the palate is bordering on over-ripe. Without enough enough freshness to balance, the ripe cherry fruit is not particularly heady or Chambolle like. Relatively short on the finish. There did seem to be some underlying minerality and structure in the background, so it's possible some time will help this, but I would n... Read More

  • Domaine des Lambrays Morey St Denis Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays 2010

A fair amount of oak on the nose lends this a cinnamon, gingery cast to the nose, but there's not much more than french oak there. Light bodied and deep on the palate, which is a bit simple but shows nice tension to the clear, acid driven raspberry and red currant fruit finishing with assertive minerality. 90pts Read More

  • That was a blast. I want to thank everyone who made it possible with a tip of ... Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru Morey St Denis Flight 1'90 Faively Charmes Chambertin Grand CruFunky, earthy curranty aromas with autumnal base notes. Bright acids and fine tannins support a fine core of earthy, mineral driven fruit, though the fruit is fading here l... Read More

  • OT, the vine age is an interesting concept...not an easy thing to analyze unless you really make an effort, such as routinely tasting the same site with different age to the vines. We just tend to accept the general knowledge that old vine = more complex, while young vines are not as complex. Young vines can still produce good wine though, I mean... Read More

  • Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Morey St. Denis 2010

Perhaps the most divisive wine of the night. I am not a huge fan of oak, and this has plenty of sweet oak on it but the oak is so complex and perfumed bringing elements of marzipan, coconut and roasted nuts to the mix, though the cinnamon spice found here is most assertive. The fruit shows a touch of pine from stems and a little licorice and bee... Read More
