The soils of Marsannay are unfortunately little known worldwide and the wines too often underestimated. Because the commune does not have the prestige of its famous neighbours in the south, the wines of Marsannay are often drunk too young. Our soils give rather tannic and well-structured red wines. Waiting for 3 to 8 years according to the vintage often proves essential to maximize the qualitative potential of the wine and your pleasure. – Description from aussiegreg

  • Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay 'L'Ancestrale Rouge 2010

    Snoothrank:

Mineral, floral and exubertantly youthful, lAncestrale shows lighter fruit flavors of yellow plum and red raspberry. The wines nervous acidity and slightly coarse tannins make the palate feel tight-knit, but this is balanced nicely with a lovely vinosity. Spice undertones appear on the short-plus finish. Produced from vines averaging 80 years in... Read More
