Grands Vins de Bourgogne, Puligny-Montrachet, White Still Wine 1997 Another solid white burg one would guess but a producer would help 6. Chateau Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac Bordeaux, 2001 Classic Bordeaux, great producer and vintage 2014-2030 7. Grand Cru Classe, Cos D' Estourne Bordeaux 2002 Another calssic wine but even more rugged than the Lalande though without the balance of the Pichon 2010-2020    (hide)

Lifted aromas of cherry, spice, undergrowth and flowers. Complex strawberry "sexy" smells. Seamless follow through, ripe, positive and long. No sappiness or coarseness just beautiful sweet fruit, spices and floral hints. Sublime. After 2 hours: More nuanced on the nose, more balanced. Palate has evolved revealing less bright notes and more chocolate, coffee, spice character. Smoother, rounder and much, much longer. More cherry less strawberry, it seems somehow deeper and darker. After swallowing this wine it is making me salivate profusely- the mark of greatness.    (hide)
