Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny is a village in the Cote de Nuits part of Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. It contains the Grands Crus Bonnes Mares (shared with Morey-St-Denis) and Le Musigny. Both produce red wine, but Le Musigny produces a little white wine as well.

  • Had another gathering of a this-time-shrunken batch of our 'salon' group (many out of town) last night, though I was too busy to help get the wine this time. Live classic guitar (Bach) by a Japanese female performer, delicate not powerful. BBQ'd chicken and hanger steak and archaic vegetables (e.g. pale cucumbers, eggplants the shape of pumpkins... • Took a lot of careful planning and investment to pull it off. Have duplicates of the two on the edges and working on a tier 2 flight (Groffier, Hudelot-Baillet, Drouhin-Laroze) just need Jadot for tier 2 and may need someone to bring the Mugnier for Tier 1.Basically a big fan of anything 2013 Chambolle...have a smaller collection of Amoureuses a... • Yeah JD, that '14 Sun Chase is a tasty drink. It brings it without overwhelming. Glad to see you enkoying it so much. • Thanks for the input, I noticed various people really like the wines, including ... ... daughter already has the Chambolle Musigny bug, talk about skipping steps! Yeah they are expensive, but I think a wine like Bertheau's Chambolle village for around $60 beats any CA single vineyard example. Probably Oregon too by a slimmer margin. &nbs Read More

  • It would have been nice to have a few more folks, since we like to get together with as many of you as we can.  We certainly had enough wine, thanks to JD. I'd say, yes, it's infanticide to drink 04 and 06 Barolo, but I think it drinks well younger, better than it used to, because some of what made it tough was faults in wine making.  Long macer...
