Volnay is a red wine-producing village in the Cote de Beaune section of Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Though it does not have any Grands Crus, it does have a number of Premiers Crus. Interestingly, it is located next to Pommard, but it wines’ typically light, elegant style is the opposite of its neighbor’s rich, powerful ones.

  • Burgundy has had a bit of a rough go in recent years with yields down below ... de Beaune, namely Pommardand Volnay. Where the storm first hit in Savigny and Pernand Vergelesse, the losses are reported at 15 - 50+ %, but from what I hear the prized vineyards of the Cote de Nuits (to the North) haven't been nearly as affected, if at all by the hai Read More

Tight on the nose and a little funky with simple red cherry fruit and light brambly accent notes. This is decidedly reticent in the mouth with excellent depth and transparency.
