Savigny-les-Beaune is an appellation created in 1937 [ although viticulture here goes back to at least the Romans ]  for both red and white wines [ though over 80% are red ]  from the commune of that name on the Cotes de Beaune ijn Burgundy. It is a large appellation by Burgundy standards with over 400 hectares under vine and is located about 5 miles north-west of ther town of Beaune There are 22 premier cru vineyards but no Grand Cru.
