Corton is a Grand Cru vineyard which is located in the village of Aloxe-Corton and stretches into Ladoix-Serrigny, all in the Cote de Beaune section of Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. Both red and white Corton is made, which is quite unusual -- it’s the only Burgundian Grand Cru for which this is the case.

A rich mahogany smell, like picking up an antique violin. Hints of fruit on the nose.Complex and beautiful on the palate. The bit of fruit we encountered on the nose steps forwards and takes center stage, like a ballerina showing off her skill. Its dance is subtle and enchanting, changing as it dances across the tongue first dark fruit, then... Read More

  • 1st go with Corton Charlemagne last night (IIRC). Boillot is one of the better negoiciants from what I understand, and 2011 is somewhat of an underwhelming vintage for red and white Burgundy. This wine came off showing very even, half closed, medium weight, and quite dry. Not much extract, and only medium complexity, can't say the finish was impr... Read More
