Côte de Beaune on Snooth

  • Comte Senard Aloxe-Corton 2005

Very pale and delicate looking. This is a lovely glass with a very gentle character full of stemmy fruit, limestone and mineral tones of top notes of grapevine smoke and dusty yet precise strawberry fruit. Sweet and elegant in the mouth with herbal tones adding background contrast to the light raspberry fruit. Finishes with good length and depth... Read More

  • Joseph Drouhin Richebourg 1979

The most outstanding Burgundy I have ever tasted. So very rare and difficult to find, a true collectors wine. Their smooth richness is balanced by a certain amount of tannins and acidity. They have plenty of body, with a long, powerful and lasting aftertaste which brings to mind the smell of cherries, strawberries and undergrowth. I would rat... Read More

  • Dom Simon Bize 2005

A subtle smoke tone accentuates the core of grapeviney, rocky, grapey fruit with background tones of limestone. Front loaded with youthfully grapey fruit that yeilds to the lovely, stemmy tannins as they emerge on the mid-palate. Crisp and focused with good limestone cut and a touch of taut grapeleaf in the mouth with lovely balance and a touch ... Read More

Acting on an on-line review, I bought a case from a reputable wine store. I've had two bottles thus far and have been disappointed at the lack of body & flavor and the excessive acidity. I'm wondering if I should lay the remaining bottles aside for another year or two. Read More

  • Louis Jadot Volnay Clos des Chênes Premiere Cru 2005

I was concerned about my bottle after seeing several reviewers report they got a corked bottle. Luckily mine was fine. Beautiful fruit with a wonderful aroma. We all spent a lot of time with our noses in the glass. I found this for about $17 and at that price it is a terrific value. Read More
