Bourgogne Wine

Bourgogne AC is Burgundy’s generic appellation. In the Cote d’Or, the flatter, more fertile land at the base of the escarpment is typically given this appellation. These wines are generally thought of as not particularly serious or long-aging. When made by top producers, however, they can be outstanding values.

  • "the Moreau came off noticeably more lean and mineral."Hardly ... ... his juice. "2006 Bourgogne Cannubi Riserva"??  That soapiness is most often, in my experience, a youth issue. Just as it blows off over an hour or two after exposure to a lot of air, it also disappears with bottle age.Did you find the Burgundy reds standing up to the Osso Bu... Read More

  • Dominique Laurent Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2013

    Snoothrank:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12.50 from Roberson Wines in West London [www.robersonwines.com].It is a simple basic village level Burgundy from a family run concern.I started it last night with my steak supper and I did enjoy it. It is quite pale in colour but there is plenty of a raspberry and redcurrant style fruit there with a hint of van... Read More

  • Jean-Philippe Fichet Bourgogne Blanc 2011

    Snoothrank:

Pale yellow in the glass. Fairly fruity nose. Stone fruitapricot, peachon the tip of the tongue. Also, interestingly enough, an effervescence that might suggest secondary fermentation. Complete lack of buttery oaka good thing. A touch of tartness makes this a fairly refreshing wine. All these positives are negated by the beginnings of o... Read More

  • Vincent Girardin Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Cuvee St. Vincent" 2009

    Snoothrank:

This is my 2nd pinot and 3rd wine overall I've had from this producer and have been happy with them all. Price and quality match well...and he used the acidity and minerality aspect of the terroir well. This is a medium red wine with distinct clear ring. A defined nose of cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and spice pop out readily and lead the way. Th... Read More
