Chardonnay is a simple blank canvas of a grape, and one has to train it to taste a certain way. It easily absorbs flavors from its soils and surrounding conditions. It obeys commands. The lightest and most crisp white Burgundies tend to come from Chablis, which is located the farthest north. Further down, along the Côte d&rsquo Read more »

  • Pierre Matrot Bourgogne Chardonnay 2010

Restrained nose with subdued fruits. Fern, moss and marjoram surface first. With time in the glass, mirabelle and Comice pear appear. A tremendous saline quality makes the wine zesty and dry, and theres a chalkiness that is almost Chablisienne. Medium-plus finish very impressive for just a Bourgogne. Read More

Buttery and creamy on the nose with aromas of marshmallow, white flowers and lemon curd with slight hints of golden apple. Nice texture on the palate with soft, round feel. Sme sweet marshmallow notes, but it's not as buttery or rich as the nose suggested. Light citrus and golden apple notes with a delicacy of flowers. Feels light and fluffy... Read More
