Morgon is one of the crus of Beaujolais. Like the other crus, it’s located in the hilly vineyards of northern Beaujolais. The area produces dense, long-lived wines that can approach the quality of red Burgundy. An especially excellent vineyard in Morgon is the Cote de Py.

I had the 2005 and it was extremely smooth and light...very delicious. Very fruity...It went well with the chicken. The restaurant that I went to had described it as a robust, full bodied wine but I found it to be quite the opposite. Great as a wine for the beginning of dinner but I would choose to have something heavier with a steak for example... Read More

  • Lapierre Morgon 2007

This wine was featured on SLATE's Culture Gabfest, the Show titled The In Bruno ... Burgundy Morgon. Steinberger highly recommended it as a good occasional wine for the price-is-object crowd, of which I am one of many. I don't think I've got it distributed here in North Carolina, yet, but I'm looking Read More

  • Lapierre Morgon 2007

A good winemaker will always make great wines in great years, but will make decent, good wines in a terrible year...2007 was no 2005...heavy rains in September led to water charged grapes. Wines are consequently thin, light and short in finish, perhaps herbaceous...Again, the wine drink well now, slightly chilled, with cold pork cuts. For Lapier... Read More

A tight noise with a very fine tobacco tone, mineral notes, and a hint of violet all backed up with tight wild berry fruit, opens rather nicely revealing tea, mint, moss and wild berry tone with some ferrous minerality. Soft plush and full of gentle fading fruit edged in brown spice and roast fruit tone, some dried apricot up front and still ha... Read More

Funky, earthy, Burgundian nose, intensely smoky with notes of medicinal floral tones, tea and baked wild cherry and medicinal mineral tones, intense stuff!
