Bourgogne Rouge on Snooth

  • An impromptu Thanksgiving hodgepodge at a friend's house tonight. Turkey ... Then a Bougogne blanc and a bourgogne rouge from two different negociants I'd again not heard of. Followed by a Bordeaux blend from Pauillac which was also an effort by a negociant I'd never heard of. Finally a nero d'avola from Sicily. All bought by my hosts on recom... Read More

  • So not much of a Burgundy/ Swiss connection Dave?Well, at least someone is ... ... served a 2014 Hubert Lignier Bourgogne Rouge which showed and fit just fine. Many small producers there, and 2016 is a difficult year for them, so tough to get appointments in many cases though I've heard Domaine Drouhin is open to the public (they are one of th... Read More

  • I had an Irancy from Domaine Colinot last year which I liked. Irancy only got AOC status in 1999 and before that pinot noir/cesar wines from this northern Burgundy enclave were sold under the general Bourgogne appellation. I once had a wine called 'Cuvee de Cesar  Simonnet-Febrve-Chablis ' from the 1996 vintage. It is the only bottle of red wine... Read More

  • Situated as far north as Pinot Noir is cultivated in Bourgogne, Irancy is a little known treasure representing tremendous value. Situated in the Grand Auxerrois region, Irancy lies on the right bank of the Yonne river, a short drive southwest of Chablis. Here, red wines are produced exclusively. The same Kimmeridgean marl and brown limestone soil... Read More

  • Domaine Moillard Bourgogne Pinot Noir Tradition 2013

Had this at Marcello's Chophouse for lunch yesterday. Initially fruit forward and still young, Opens with ripe Red Cherries then tamps down with interesting minerality and soil. Quite pleasant as it opens in the Glass. Read More
