Sainte-Croix-du-Mont Wine

A small appellation located in the area around the picturesque little town of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont in the southern end of the premières côtes de bordeaux in France's bordeaux region. It sits on the Garonne River across from sauternes and barsac. The appellation is only for white wines made from sémillon, sauvignon blanc and muscadelle, which must be semisweet or sweet. Although some of the grapes in the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont AC are infected by botrytis cinerea, the resulting wines aren't generally as intense or luscious (nor are the prices as high) as those from Sauternes and Barsac. – Description from Neville Eclov

  • Château la Rame Red Bordeaux Blend Bordeaux Contrôlée 2007

Crisp and mineraly, this is exactly the kind of white wine I want to drink all summer. I like it chilled with a couple pieces of mild cheese or alongside shrimp or even with a hot lobster roll. It has a nice lemony taste going on but it isn't sharply acidic like a New Zealand sauv blanc. I really love it when I can get it. Read More
