Puiseguin-Saint-Emilion is a commune on the “right bank” of Bordeaux. It was once considered part of the major commune of Saint-Emilion, but in 1936, Puisseguin, along with Saint-Emilion’s other satellites, was given its own appellation. Like those of Saint-Emilion, these wines are dominated by Merlot. They can be very good, but are considered comparatively rustic.

  • Chateau le Puy du Chay Puisseguin Saint Emilion 2000

I bought this bottle of wine for £10 from a wine merchant in Sussex..It is from the Puisseguin Saint Emilion AOC which was created in 1936 for red wines from the Puisseguin commune to the north-east of the town of Saint Emilion. It is one of the four 'satellite ' Saint Emilion appellations.I have not been able to find out much about Chateau Le Pu... • Chateau des Laurets Rothschild Puisseguin St. Emilion 2011

Purchased through Lot 18, where I picked up the 2010. Not quite the 2010, seems a bit young and edgy compared to the 2010, but knowing the 2010, you would hope you would know where this one is going, Opens with chocolate plum jam, then a bit of lavender and violets, and finally a cinnamon, thyme, and allspice. Long, bright, and smooth finish w... Read More

  • Château Lanbersac Puisseguin St. Emilion 2009

A merchant at my local store pointed this one out to me. First off 75 year old vines at a $20 price tag, then it's from the famed St. Emillion region of Bordeaux, and it's ready to be drunk right now. 85% merlot and 15% cab franc and silky smooth all the way down. A great everyday value wine from Bordeaux. Read More
