Pomerol Wine

Pomerol is a commune on the right bank of the Dordogne, in Bordeaux. Most of the producers here are relatively small. Merlot is the most important variety here, followed by Cabernet Franc. The commune is the home of Ch. Petrus. Interestingly, Pomerol has refused any official ranking or classification of its wines.

Pomerol on Snooth

  • I have a number of 2005 Pomerol (inter alia), but, as some have said, "not that one."  However, I no longer drink much from this region as the produce has become too over-priced.  It is not so much a matter of being able to buy the juice, but rather an ethical one;, viz. I can get better for less and share with friends for much less.My Chinese n... Read More

  • Sounds like it's time for a party.  I've had a few wines from Pomerol, but I don't remember which ones anymore.  I bet keeping the wines out of easy reach has enabled the years to go by without consuming them.  Overall, I think I like the Bordeaux region of France the best.  I really enjoy Bordeaux-style wines from the states too.  Read More

  • I think that Indian food with wines is an interesting combination. All those ... Particularly remembered a Pomerol he nad used to pair with his lamb korma. Don't exactly recall the label, but it was something that was quite fruity and well scented. The me today would surely have properly taken notes of that bottle and added a review.I had also... It was over 20 years old but it was just exquisite and I wrote up a review on here,Soft and silky tannins but still well structured and plenty of blackcurrant and plum fruit with a suggestion of vanilla Read More

  • Chateau la Croix du Casse Pomerol 1993

This bottle was in a lot I bought on the www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/85473. The Pomerol appellation was created in 1936,although winemaking here goes back to at least medieval times, for red wines from the commune of that name near the town of Libourne on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. The commune is only about 3 square miles and h... • Gazin Pomerol 2006

One can be cynical in many things, but not about Pomerol;this fine property produces a fine result for the 2006 vintage with a bouquet redolent of a bed of fir branches, cranberries, and wild (unfarmed) cherries. The entry shows the pedigree of Merlot with the panoply of red fruit and soft finish. A very fine wine. 92. Read More
