Pauillac Wine

Pauillac is a commune in Bordeaux which is situated in the Medoc. Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape variety that dominates the wines here. Though it encompasses only 1200 ha, Pauillac boasts three of the five First Growths of the Medoc. These are Lafite, Latour, and Mouton-Rothschild.

  • Château Haut-Batailley Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 2006

This 2006 Pauillac was cellared prudently for 6 years, and appears to have peaked. The colour has become brick red, with a scent redolent of cranberry, blackberry confit and a hint of spicy cedar. On the palate, there is a bit of vanilla overlay and just a pleasant, faint hint of oak with cassis (current) and blackberry dominating the fruit. ... Read More

  • So that Pauillac Bordeaux wine was most excellent last night and we were enjoying it while watching American Pharaoh win the triple crown.  Tonight it's pork chops on the grill with another nice wine, this 2013 Bourgogne Pinot Noir.  What to celebrate?  Well I'm selling my chopper next Friday (12 June) to a guy in Kentucky who is driving 7.5 hou... • Special treat tonight - to celebrate the possible sale of my chopper to a guy ... - the 2010 La Fleur Peyrabon Pauillac.  Now this is a fine Bordeaux wine and I wish I had bought a few more bottles (I think it was around $35).  Very smooth, has good fruit and mellow tannins.  Highly recommended to you folks.  The referenced web site says this ... • Réserve de la Comtesse Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 2011

This second wine of Comtesse de Lalande comes with a nice Bordeaux nose of blackberry and crushed leaves and brushwood. Very inviting. On the palate, there is a bit of acidity noticeable, but not really out of balance - there is touch of sweetness behind. The finish is filled with tart blackberry, a touch of oak tannin and acerbity. Not very d... Read More

  • Chateau Latour Pauillac Premier Grand Cru Classe 1986

March 2015 Re-tasted after fining and decanting. The 1986 LATOUR displayed young colors, faint nose and dried cranberry and bing cherry on the palate. Nice and balanced/ seamless finally for a 5 grape. Delicate and still pouring fine. I wish my taste was not as cold, Coming directly from a cellar. 1986 Latour still DRINKING fine. Enjoy. Read More

  • Hi all, hope you've all been drinking the good drop! I only dropped by ... ... by ... notes typical for a Pauillac, very nice tanned leather, earthy and tobacco. These is the plum and blackcurrent fruit but these are dampened down by now. So a wine like this I'd classify beyond it's drinking window. But I'm confident it'd survive well-cellare... Read More
