Pauillac Wine

Pauillac

Pauillac is a commune in Bordeaux which is situated in the Medoc. Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape variety that dominates the wines here. Though it encompasses only 1200 ha, Pauillac boasts three of the five First Growths of the Medoc. These are Lafite, Latour, and Mouton-Rothschild.

  • VV - That Pinot Noir looks very nice.  I shall try it if I see one in a ... a ... a Bordeaux wine (2010 Pauillac from Chateau Lynch Bages)  and we had it decanted.  The hostess did explain to me this was their 3rd-tier label and it was $75.  I'm not complaining because their 1st-tier wines are a couple of hundred bucks and rated in the mid-90... • EM - I just know that Pauillac Bordeaux was a good wine, even though I can't see the vintage - unless that 1992 stamp on the left is the vintage.  Unresolved tannin?  I guess you mean still some strong tannin on that makes you pucker up after it enters you mouth?Yes, Al, the vintage date on the Lunch-Bag was 1992. And, yes, I felt there was more... Read More

  • Château Lynch-Bages Pauillac 1992

    Snoothrank:

Very pretty garnet color with lots of light coming through. Initially, something of a musty nose, but that seemed to blow off. Initial mouth sensation has lots of earthiness. Just the lightest touch of Cabernet Sauvignon currant fruit. Some tobacco. Still some very serious tannin to the point that I am critical of the balance. The finish, t... Read More

  • Château Haut-Batailley Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac 2006

    Snoothrank:

This 2006 Pauillac was cellared prudently for 6 years, and appears to have peaked. The colour has become brick red, with a scent redolent of cranberry, blackberry confit and a hint of spicy cedar. On the palate, there is a bit of vanilla overlay and just a pleasant, faint hint of oak with cassis (current) and blackberry dominating the fruit. ... Read More
