Pauillac Wine

Pauillac

Pauillac is a Bordeaux appellation created in 1936,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for red wines from the commune of that name plus a few clearly defined plots outside it.This is located on the east side of the  Medoc peninsular about 25 miles north of the City of Bordeaux.. Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape variety that dominates the wines here. Though it encompasses only 1200 ha, Pauillac boasts 18 of the classed growths of the 1855 classification including three of the five First Growths of the Medoc. These are Lafite, Latour, and Mouton-Rothschild.

Pauillac on Snooth

  • Domaines Barons de Rothschild Legende Pauillac 2014

    Snoothrank:

Savory farm field and ripe black cherry aromas with blackberry preserves and olive tapenade on the nose. With its elegant and striking palate of bright cherry and cranberry fruit, nice warmth and bolstering acidity, this is approachable and firm in the mouth, with tart fruit layered in front of dark tannins and dark chocolate towards a smoky bro... • My mom bought it from a retail store in 1978 for my Dad's B-day. It was kept in a wine cellar in the basement in NJ. He then moved to Florida in 2004. It has been stored on its side the whole time and the cork has no damage to it.Most of the people I know would not appreciate the wine. Not a knock on them but not their glass of wine so to speak.... • She probably didn't buy it in '78 if it was a '78 vintage since it wouldn't be released until a couple of years later. No chance of her digging up a receipt? Keeping those things is what people who collect and may want to sell later do.Still think you'll get the best mileage out of it by gifting to the right person, or a dinner. Too bad you don'...
