Listrac-Medoc is a commune in the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Its soil is more clay than gravel, so it is less renowned than nearby communes, but the wines can still be very good and can represent excellent value. Merlot-based wines do better in this terroir.

    Snoothrank:

I bought this bottle of wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/53640.At 43 metres above sea-level, the commune of Listrac is the highest ground on the Medoc peninsular and the soil is a mixture of gravel, clay and limestone. Chateau Foursas Dupre is a well known 46 hectare estate which is now in the hands of the Patrice Bages f... Read More

  • Chateau Clarke 2005

    Snoothrank:

It is easy to see that Michel Roland has had some success here; the Merlot backbone of this wine has cedar-box, black pepper and sweet raspberry on the nose and (surprising to me, at least) en bouche, there is plenty of soft tannin (no annoying oak invading this, however) and a creamy, soft, quite satisfying long finish. Heavily worked, but not... Read More
