for this region?

The region’s name, which means “between two seas,” refers to its location between the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. Entre-Deux-Mers is best known for inexpensive dry white wines, but is producing reds of increasing quality and value, such as Cadillac and the generic appellations Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur.

  • Château Guibon Entre-Deux-Mers 2011

Clear, light straw color. Quite fruity on the nose--melon. maybe, green apple. Very interesting on the palate. Still get that melon/apple thing, but, also, an effervescence that provides a minerally character. Nice and tart and refreshing. US$11.69 at Total WIne. Read More

  • Digging into the 2010 Bordeaux now - a bit late for some of my American friends ... ... I really like what these Entre Deux Mers (Cadillac) producers are doing... it is really quite amazing. You might call this wine a poor man's Saint-Émilion... or something similar... but why insult the point of production?  The wine is excellent and does duty ... Bright light hay in appearance with a floral, wet grass and citrus aroma that announce notes of grapefruit, quince and yellow grass flowing with a bit of limestone minerality, and lingering refreshingly long on the palate. This is consistently one terrific value, and makes you thirsty for more. What more can we ask of a wine? Read More

  • Back to the Original Topic, now there has been a damaging hailstorm in Bordeauxhttp://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/09/bordeaux-wine-vineyards-hailstorms-damageThe area that was seriously struck is Entre-deux-Mers.  I am totally unfamiliar with this region.  It sounds like their best wines are dry whites.  Read More
