Bordeaux Superieur has a higher minimum alcohol content than Bordeaux AC by about half a degree. Frequently (though not always), the wines are in fact better and can improve over the course of a year or two.

  • Château Canada 2010

This is the best Chateau Canada I have tasted (the third); there is excellent grip and structure without the acerbity of stems in past incarnations of this wine; there is a bright cherry nose (right bank) with a plummy entry. Can last at least 2-3 years longer. Good flavor and finish for the price. 84 points. Read More

  • Started with a 2010 Chateau Argadens Bordeaux Superieur (not expensive), nice, but not very big, merlot heavy....followed by a 2008 Ben Schild's reserve Shiraz.  Very nice, elegant.  Barbequed local salmon and asparagus...and a Seahawk's victory.   Smiles all around. Read More

  • Château Cadillac Red Bordeaux Blend Bordeaux Supérieur Cuvée J.j. Lesgourgues 2006

It was very enjoyable. I could distinguish several different flavors which is unusual for me. It had some oak, vanilla, and dark cherry flavors. Tasted like a good $40.00 bottle Read More

  • Pey la Tour Reserve du Chateau Bordeaux Superieur 2009

Some sweet cherry and grape stem on the nose while the palate receives blueberry, bilberry and plum in abundance. There is some tickling of the tongue by slightly acerbic tannin suggests a little structure and indeed, there is some sediment upon decanting. Quite firm, well-made, and right-bank in style, this wine is good value for money. Not... Read More

  • Chateau Pey la Tour Reserve Bordeaux Superieur Aoc 2009

Some sweet cherry and grape stem on the nose; while the color is inviting and dark. Blueberry, bilberry and plum hold sway on the palate which is tickled by somewhat acerbic tannin. Some structure evident... could age 2-3 more years; well-made and very rive gauche in style. Excellent value. 86 points. Read More

  • Chateau Croix Mouton Bordeaux Superieur 2010

This wine is an excellent intro to the vintage; it is has decent grip although it is less "juicy" than the 2009. The nose is Merlot-like (not a coincidence, maybe) with cherry licorice whips, and the entry is filled with cedar and plum. The finish is medium, the drinking is easy and the quality is above the appellation level. Drink now throug... Read More
