I enjoy trying wines from around the world, but Bordeaux was my first love, now eclipsed by Riesling. I have worked in the wine business for 10 years, mostly auction, now importing/consulting.

  • Château Pey la Tour Red Bordeaux Blend Bordeaux Contrôlée 2007

Big nose once you first cork the wine, however I found it to be a slim body for a Bordeaux. Can smell the earth, dirt, and must of a typical Bordeaux but lacks the great pallet taste. Not bad to have around the house for people who don't know good wine but like Bordeaux's Read More

  • Château du Taillan Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc 2001

Hints of dark fruit, spice, leather, and earth on the nose. When drinking the wine, the flavors lean first towards a firm cabernet sauvignon-type flavor, but then round out with well-structured merlot notes. • Château Pape Clément Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Pessac-Léognan Blanc 1964

This just reeks of new baseball glove leather with an underlay of spiced damson plum and tobacco leaf. Gains spicy tones with air offering some Christmas Cake and even minty top notes.
