Western Australia is the largest independent state and wine region within Australia, and the second largest in the world. It covers roughly 1000 square miles in any direction. Due to its size, it boasts quite the array of climate and topographical growing conditions.

Since a good portion of the state is very hot and humid, the regions tend to cluster around the south western areas where the weather is cooler and more temperate. And along the cool southern end of Geographe Bay (Margaret River and Geographe), with the inland Blackwood Valley.

The regions within Western Australia are:

    * Great Southern: the largest, best known for cool climate Riesling and Pinot Noir. It is further divided into the subregions Albany, Denmark, Frankland River, Mount Barker and Porungurup.

Clean, nice wine. Read More
