  I love the thread drift too. Cakebread. Of course. It never even occured to ... birthday. Or what about orange? Or coconut/pineapple? Or spice? Or cherry? Or vanilla? Not that any of them would work with wine

Read moreI recently got my hand on several bottles of this vintage, and to be honest, i ... the nose became more orange than anything else, with hints of the floral notes previously prominent. Over the next 30 minutes the wine started deconstructing a little bit, and lost some of its layers, but the flavor components continued to change. Some gameness and very ripe fruit started to come to the forefront and the blueberry became more leather. As we finished the bottle at the 90 minute mark, the mouth feel was the best it had ever been, and nose was almost gone but had an incredibly pleasant floral subtlety. If I was to really focus on the flavor, with my eyes closed, I got and almost Kool-Aid sweeness at the back of my palate and a classic Zin fruitiness. The ripeness was perfect, with no hint of the over ripness from before. i wish I had a magnum of this to see what else the bottle would have yielded. The next one I open, I'll make sure to savor it for at least hours. This was certainly one of the best bottles I've had this year    (hide)

It has throw a lot of sediment and needs decanting but this is now a beautiful mature Shiraz showing an orang/brown rim over a still deeply colored wine. Wonderful mature nose with berries, cedar, leather and smooth, full bodied flavor. Fantastic with a good steak.    (hide)

  Tierra de Luna Torrontes/Chardonnay 2008

  The coloring is almost as clear as water but the nose had incredible aromas of ... and apricots along with some oranges and citrus. There were wonderful floral notes on top. The palate was full of fruits and mineral tastes from the terroir. This is a steal at $7
