Barossa Valley Wine

With a rich history dating back to 1847, a profound and unique Silesian (German) influence, the Barossa Valley is one of the most famous wine regions of South Australia and, indeed, Australia. In consequence, site, slope and aspect all vary widely. The climate of the region has often been unfairly characterised as very warm but, in fact, in its lower parts it is only moderately so and at higher altitudes quite cool, as indicated by the Williamstown details given below. In fact, as John Gladstones has pointed out, its biologically effective temperature Read more »

  • In places like Paso Robles or the Barossa Valley where it can get well hotter than even Napa's valley floors, you really want hillsides, too.You kinda skipped past Italy and Spain, Greg, in your travelogue. Definitely on hillsides in the old Yugoslavia, too. How's Hungary? Read More

  • Yalumba Shiraz Y Series 2012

A bit chewy on entry, and showing a bit of reticence though ari brings out spicy, zesty black currant and boysenberry flavors on the palate that are framed with hints of min... Read More

Floral on the nose with lots of fresh strawberry and peach. Medium weigh... Read More
