Read moreTo be brutally sincere, it was until I tasted Schroeder's Saurus PN last year that I believed that Argentina never stood a chance when it came to producing a leading style of new world PN. I proudly stand corrected, as these guys out of San Patricio del Chañar (Neuquén) produce some of the best new world PN I have ever gotten to taste. I can't say enough to recommend Schroeder's Saurus PN, as it is worth going out of your way to purchase (online, travel, anything it takes). The nose is really room-filling, with flowers, red fruit, cherries and spice. You get some of the violet hints you would find in say, Volnay, but with a personality of its own. Deference to the old world is present, despite a respectful divergence onto something entirely new. Delicious red fruit,cherry and concentrated wild blueberry flavors. Great berry acidity underneath the fruit, along with just enough oak to define the structure perfectly. Think violet pastilles, spice and blueberry juice on the finish. Bodega Schroeder named this label 'Saurus' given the winery's location near a dinosaur fossil excavation site, evident if you were to tour the facilities today. At any rate, they are certainly the guiding light for other Argentine producers of Pinot Noir in the cooler, Patagonian wine producing sub-regions. Read moreMy wife and I tasted this at a local wine merchant in Andersonville, IL when visiting my son and his wife. It went down well so we bought a couple of bottles. When we had our first bottle one evening while enjoying a wine marinated steak grilled to medium, we were surprised how REALLY, REALLY good it was. It isn't distributed in MN so I've bought bottles from MO and NJ to fill the space now allocated to it in my wine cooler. It is very smooth, slightly fruity and leaves a very nice taste after swallowing.    (hide)

  THE NEW WORLD WINE, COMING FROM A NEW APPELLATION, THAT IS CALLED PATAGONIA OF ARGENTINA, NEUQUEN CITY, LOCATED AT SOUTH WEST FROM ARGENTINA HAVE 5 WINERIES WITH EXCELLENT WINE, GREAT FOR PINOT NOIR, MERLOT.
