Agrelo is a small wine region within Mendoza in the Cuyo province of Argentina. It centers around the town of the same name. It is situated at the Mendoza river at the foot of the Andes. Vineyards are at high elevations, which ensures optimal sun exposure and grape acid/sugar balance. The grape varietals produced are the typical popular Mendoza varietals such as Torontes, Viognier, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc for whites. Reds consist of Bonarda, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Many of the wineries here are boutique operations focused on quality viticulture.
