Famatina Valley Wine

The Famatina Valley is located in Chilecito, province of La Rioja - ARGENTINA. It´s an 80km long desert valley with mountain ranges on each side: the Velasco and the Famatina. A pristine and sparsely populated environment. A unique micro-climate. Great exposure to sunshine. A dry environment, with warm days and very cool nights. Abundance of water deep below the surface ensures that water is available when needed. Ideally suited to producing both earlier ripening “vibrant” white varieties as well as intensely lavored reds, notably Bonarda. Produces wines with great depth of flavor, with wonderful elegance and vibrant character. – Description from andrewanoble

  • Zolo Torrontés Famatina Valley Gaucho Select 2008

    Snoothrank:

Particularly complex nose for a wine in this price range. There's a ton of tropical fruit, pear, apple, banana, floral, and honey notes going on. It's really quite interesting to stick your nose in. In the mouth the wine is quite viscous and coats your mouth, but its not thick. There's a touch of sweetness to go with the good acidity and a lot o... Read More

  • Zolo Torrontés Famatina Valley 2007

    Snoothrank:

Found this bargain white a delightful surprise with its fresh floral bright tones, ever-so-slight sweet edge, undertones of a herb garden in May, and a delicate pleasing mouthfeel. It was in my upscale supermarket's single row of chilled whites and I took a chance for $10. Glad I did; pair with appertizers for the beginning of a party or a fruit... Read More
