What wine goes with pizza?

2Mark Angelillo

A great question with so many wonderful answers. Anyone care to take a stab? Make it red and Italian and sangiovese based and I'll be happy, but I'm sure there are other suggestions out there.

  • 2Mark Angelillo Oh, we're talking your basic pizzeria pie here. Just to keep things simple.

  • Pretty simple pairing for me. Cabernet is going to be too strong, and agree Zin is in the same bucket. Would go with the Chianti or Rosso Toscano for best effect. Not necessary to go expensive. Just pick up a $10 bottle and call it a day.

  • I love a good Pinot Noir with my pizza! Flowers on the higher end, Castle Rock at a more comfortable price point.

  • Oh man, this question was MADE for me! It really does depend on the pizza, but for a basic pizza, I like rich (but crisp) Sauvignon Blancs with mine - they're my favorite whites (I tried Zinfandel with pizza once and it didn't QUITE work out how I planned).
