Laurapal

I'm from Scotland but have lived in Montalcino for the last 13 years, immersed in Sangiovese and surrounded by cypresses... I used to have a restaurant (5 tables, 600 wines.. funny we closed after 5 years..) and have been running Il Palazzone since 2003.

"Ciao! I am curating the Brunello page and saw there that you had reviewed Poggio al Castellare 2004 - you might be pleased to know that it just got voted n.11 in the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines.... from now on it will be harder to find and definitely more expensive!"

"Ciao! I am really honored to be consulted and not an expert at all though I love my wines!

Sweet and sour is a hard one but I would go with a very aromatic wine, for example a Gewurtztraminer to match the aromatic component of oriental food. Or a sweet(ish) Reisling. Or Prosecco Extra Brut Bortolomiol. Depends a bit how the prawns are fried and how much acidity you need to clear your palate.

With sweet foods the classic match is a sweet wine, hoping that your red fruits aren't horribly acidic, I would recommend an Aleatico Passito made by the La Piana estate on the tiny island of Capraia. This would be dream match with the dessert you describe though it is hard to find even here in Italy! Any passito from red grapes would be a good match - Sagrantino passito, Recioto passito...

Buon appetito! Let me know....
