I'd love to see a compare and contrast type series on aging in oak v stainless steel or stainless w/ oak chips. Also a compare and contrast of small winery v big winery techniques.

Jimmy Cocktail reviewed Barrel Oak Winery Norton 2008. (3.5/5)
On Oct 15

The first thing you notice is its color. A very dark ruby color that turns translucent (you can see light through it) when the light hits it just right. Very reminiscent of the gem of the same...

Barrel Oak Winery Norton 2008

Starting at $25.00 Snoothrank: 3/5
Jimmy Cocktail reviewed Flying Winemaker Zinfandel 2007. (3.5/5)
On Oct 13

The 2007 Zinfandel is made from juice that comes from ancient vines in the Lodi region. It is exactly what one would expect of a Lodi Zin. It is a translucent garnet in color fading to dark orange...

Flying Winemaker Zinfandel 2007

Starting at $8.95 Snoothrank: 3/5
Jimmy Cocktail reviewed Can Blau Celler Can Blau 2007. (3/5)
On Oct 12

It is a blend of 40% Mazuelo, 40% Syrah and 20% Garnacha (Grenache). It is a full bodied wine with a luxiorious dark ruby color that gives you a strong nose of plum and blackberry. There is a...

Jimmy Cocktail reviewed Chrysalis Vineyards Tannat Reserve Hollin 2006. (3.5/5)
On Oct 5

This is a wine that benefits from breathing a couple of hours before drinking. It is pretty tight and the tannins are very pronounced when the bottle is first opened. Once it starts to open up...

Jimmy Cocktail reviewed Arabella Merlot 2007 2007. (4/5)
On Sep 22

The wine itself is a beautiful deep ruby color that lets plenty of light through. This is a big wine, 14.5% alcohol, but you don't sense that in the nose. That's because this wine has a...
