I've been getting into wine over the past 3-4 years. I like bold reds; Cahors, Languedoc wines, Chtnf du Pape, Carignan, Aglianico, temparanillo, dao. I'm stuck on the Old World for now, the exception being Argentine Malbec & Chilean Cabernet

ElGranto reviewed Smoking Loon Pinot Noir 2007. (2.5/5)
On Aug 28

Seen Smoking Loon around for a while, so I finally tried it. I spent $8 on this bottle. With that in mind, I've got no complaints. Not much of a nose on this one. It has that clear, deep...

Smoking Loon Pinot Noir 2007

Starting at $9.99 Snoothrank: 2.5/5
On Aug 22

My first bottle of CnfP in a while and now I remember why I love it. This wine has a lovely coloring; pale purple, almost mahogany at the the edges of the glass. Very distinct and forward aroma;...

Domaine du Banneret Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2003

Starting at $29.98 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
ElGranto reviewed Alamos Malbec Mendoza 2008. (3.5/5)
On Aug 20

If you drink Malbec, this should definitely be on your list. You almost cannot go wrong with Alamos. The 2008 is very well-rounded malbec and for a great price. Typical malbec-y deep purple color...

Alamos Malbec Mendoza 2008

Starting at $9.99 Snoothrank: 3/5
ElGranto reviewed Trivento Malbec 2007. (2/5)
On Aug 19

I love malbec but this was a little bit of a disappointment. Could it be past its prime already? Starts off fragrantly, but doesn't deliver after that and leaves a bit of a bitter finish.

Trivento Malbec 2007

Starting at $3.69 Snoothrank: 3/5
ElGranto reviewed Reserve de l'Estey 2006. (2/5)
On Aug 19

Drank two glasses immediately, then let the bottle breathe for about an hour. The breathing time made a huge difference, but overall this had a pretty thin flavor and does not leave much of an...
