Dark, inky and bone dry. Red fruits and earth are secondary. About as close to Italy as we get in Cali.

Got ya...I read too fast;-) Also, try some Seghesio. The 2004 was one of the best wines I have had recently. I remember being out with friends in the mid-80s and having a 1977 Mondavi barbera...

A fantastic read, yet as someone who studied history in college it is a bit airbrushed. Enjoy your vacation and the book. DC

Too bad. We do make a handful of good ones, but they tend to be very different from the Italian Barberas. If you get a chance try Unti or Sunce Barbera. They may change your mind. The Noceto...
