    I once had a pompous boyfriend who made a Very Big Deal about the release of Beaujolais nouveau every year. Say it with me, W h a t e v e r ... The Volcanique is a truly impressive expression of Gamay. White pepper tickles your mouth while humble raspberry and woody herbs round out the finish.

    Sometimes nostalgia is the strongest flavor, with the longest finish. Dry, balanced and even, not yeasty. It was served with warm, serrano wrapped figs. That was a nice combo.

    More Trader Joe's "value" swill. Smells like Pabst when you open a bottle, and gets worse from there. Wouldn't even use it to make sangria.

    If I were being generous I'd call it subtle, but truthfully it's bland. I expected the tempranillo to make things interesting but there's just... nothing... there... Might be a good choice for your mom.

    This magic Malbec manages to please both the novice drinker who insists she prefers "something sweet" and the sophisticate who enjoys "something interesting." Wish I'd gotten a case.

    Described as "easy to drink with a refreshing acidity." I disagree. Bland and tasteless with a peculiar acidity certain to sour even the strongest stomach.
