    winolee's Review:

Aroma perfumey. Red fruits of raspberry, cherries. Some licorice. Subtle tobacco at the end. Paired nicely with foie GRAS, squab, lamb. Elegant but a bit short at the finish.

    winolee's Review:

This bottle was brought by a guest to a family dinner at home. For a CS, easy drinking, quite fruity. Resembled more of a merlot. Was quite surprised at the really low price point for a California wine. Definitely worth it.

    winolee's Review:

I've had this twice already, and both times, it did not disappoint. "Delicious" is what comes to mind. This is one that will keep you pouring more into your glass - and its easy drinking nature will allow you to do this too. Very smooth luscious fruit. Perfectly paired with turkey on Thanksgiving, but will easily pair many different kinds of cuisine.

    winolee's Review:

Tried this 8 months later and maybe wiser. I left this wine to breathe for 1 hour, and this time got better results. Nose was actually pleasant and smelled of fresh-cut cherries. The weird flavor is what I now recognize as garrigue. A decent bottle, but probably not for a casual wine drinker that may find the herbal aspects of the garrigue off-putting. I do agree with my former comment that this is more of a rustic than elegant wine.

    winolee's Review:

The bouquet is classic Cabernet Franc... lavender, fresh-cut cherries.I really enjoyed this medium-bodied wine, which would be great for either drinking with food or alone. It has subtle blackberry and black cherry predominance, without being jammy. Smooth and nicely balanced. A great example of a nicely performing bordeaux from the sattelite region of Lussac-St. Emilion.

    winolee's Review:

40% Grenache, 32% Mourvedre and 28% Shiraz WS90For the price point, I was very impressed with this bottle. Interestingly, the bottle I had a week before I opened this bottle was a Turkey Flat Shiraz. I thought the Cigale was reminiscent of Turkey Flat, which is more than double the price of the Cigale and also garnered super high by WA (95pts!), WS, WE. I chalked it to the fact that they were both from Barossa Valley. Then, when reading up on Cigale later on, I find out that Cigale's winemaker was formerly with Turkey Flat. The bouquet on this was of ripe cherries and some lavender - really nice. A sip will reward you an explosion of luscious cherry and fleshy blueberry flavors. It is definitely like biting on a juicy berry. It transitions smoothly into nice spices and some licorice. Turkey Flat just has the edge on being more elegant and has a better finish. Otherwise, this is one that I'd like to keep a steady supply of.
