Added Nov 28, 2010 at 1:20pmi didn't think this one rated very well on this blog, but i found it quite good. i got berry and butter aromas, with the classic zin spice. not much pepper at all. for a zin, i found it pretty smooth, without the usual bite. i think it would be good with something that requires more spice than a cabernet, but that wouldn't tolerate the pepper or tannins of a usual zin. i don't know what that would be. i don't cook, either.

Added Nov 28, 2010 at 1:11pmi enjoyed this recently at our local wine club. the label tag says "apple blossoms, peach, citrus, melon." i'm not that good. i managed to pick up the peach. it was nice and smooth, with a little bit of carbonation added to it, so it still finished pretty crisp. not really acidic.

Added Nov 26, 2010 at 1:35pmi originally wrote my review on the 2007, but i have the 2008. this wine has a nice hint of almond, which blends well with the white fruits of the viognier. it's very smooth, easy to drink

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:49pmthis shiraz is really fruity, spicy, peppery, full of kick! it really needs to be paired carefully, though--it will overpower most things. it just begs for a really good deer sausage!

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:38pmthis is the best of the John Alan family. we love the strong fruity tones. have i mentioned i'm not good at describing wine? it just made a big impression on us. the 2007 vintage isn't quite as good. i'm hoping the '08 or '09 will recapture the greatness of the 2006, since you can't get teh 2006 anymore.

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:42pmthis is a wonderful, soft, silky viognier--a great example of the lusciousness of a viognier. my disclaimer--i'm not good at describing wine. the fruit flavors shown in the tag are pretty accurate. my absolute favorite in my short winey life!

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:28pmthis is my favorite SB to date (11/2010). high citrus, but not acidic. and at Costco, it's about $10. NZ has really taken ownership of the SBs, and this is a great example. wonderful with salmon.

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:24pmthis is a nice, rich fruit forward zin, with some nice notes of chocolate. a little pricey for my taste, but i'm a cheapskate. i'll accept it as a gift any day!

Added Nov 21, 2010 at 1:20pmthis was my first zinfandel, and i've found it continues to be one of my favorites. i'm really bad at describing wine, but i think it's got strong flavor, with just the right amount of pepper. fantastic with my husband's grilled steaks. and at Costco, it's only about $11
